Timeline
The timeline is the blueprint for this unit. It contains all of the documents a teacher would need to implement this PBL unit on nanotechnology in a geometry class, as well as the overall time frame and what is covered each day during the unit.
This PBL unit is meant to be taught over two and a half weeks towards the end of a geometry year in the overall unit on solids and 3D space. Surface area and volume are usually the first topics taught in that unit, and this project would be a good introduction to the topic. This PBL unit does not cover the calculation of surface area and volume, but is meant to give students an understanding of what those concepts are and how they are applicable to a real world situation. A section on calculating surface area and volume could follow this PBL unit.
^ = Optional activity
* = Self-determined activity
